[Overseas Participation]
According to entry regulations as
of 20th May 2020, in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the Republic of
Korea will require a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine for all travelers
entering Korea at either their place of residence or a government-designated
isolation facility. This mandatory self-quarantine will apply to everyone,
regardless of nationality, except for short-term foreign visitors who are
issued an “Isolation Exemption Certificate” from the ROK Embassy or
Consulate-General prior to the trip.
For
academic activities, such as international conferences, you can apply to
receive the “Isolation Exemption
Certificate” by filling out the application form and submitting it,
along with supporting documents, to the Republic of Korea Embassy or Consulate-General
in your country. Once your application is approved by the Republic of Korea
Embassy or Consulate General, you will be issued the certificate. ( For more info: http://ncov.mohw.go.kr/en/infoBoardView.do?brdId=14&brdGubun=141&dataGubun=&ncvContSeq=1756&contSeq=1756&board_id=&gubun=)
Therefore,
if you need an “Invitation Letter” to apply for the certificate, please contact the KSELS 2020 & KAROS Congress
Secretariat via e-mail (info@ksels.com).
When you arrive in Korea with the
“Isolation Exemption Certificate,” you will be escorted to a separate facility
outside of Incheon International Airport for COVID-19 diagnosis testing. The
test results will be available in 6 to 24 hours. Any required accommodation during
the testing will be provided free of cost.
If
the test results are negative, you will be exempt from the 14-day quarantine. However, you will still be subject to “Active Monitoring,” which
includes daily submission of health status information via the “Self-Diagnosis
App” and answering daily phone calls from the health authorities throughout
your stay in Korea.
If
the test results are positive, you will be moved to a hospital
or designated treatment center for treatment/quarantine, regardless of the
Isolation Exemption Certificate. In this case, you will need to pay KRW 1,400,000 (KRW
100,000 daily) for 2 weeks. The cost must be paid before
entering the facility, which includes costs for
accommodation, meals, etc.
* It is possible to enter Korea in
the same way as above, but unfortunately, if there are those who have already
paid the registration fee and are unable to participate, we will refund the
registration fee. Please contact the secretariat via e-mail (info@ksels.com) in this case.
